Special Alert: Two Opportunities to Support Comprehensive Health Reform TODAY
February 3, 2010 ~ Washington, DC ~ While the nominal increases in the President’s budget for HIV/AIDS programs are welcome, they fall woefully short of what’s needed and make passage of comprehensive health reform more important than ever. If you haven’t already – please take two steps to help make comprehensive health reform a reality:
1) Sign the attached letter by TODAY, February 3, by 12:00 p.m., urging Congress and the President to do what it takes to get the job done on health reform. Eighty (80) organizations have signed the letter, and it would be great to increase that number to well over one hundred (100). Individuals and organizations may sign on by clicking here
2) Send this message to your Congressional members and the President by clicking here.
The Senate bill is not perfect; but includes many of the priorities that we have been working hard to pass for years. A failure to act now by passing this bill and using the reconciliation process to make improvements will leave lifesaving HIV care out of reach for hundreds of thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS for many years to come.
Click here to read an analysis of the Senate bill by Robert Greenwald, Director of the Treatment Access Expansion Project at the Harvard Law School, Health Law and Policy Clinic, in which he discusses the provisions that are important to people with HIV/AIDS.
